MMWA Household Hazardous Special Waste Program

Beginning in April, Mid Michigan Waste Authority plans to offer five all in one drop off days for household problem wastes, including paint, electronics, and hazardous waste, as well as two document shredding events. The program will run from April through September and is free to residents of Saginaw County, Bethany Township, Village of Breckenridge, and Wheeler Township. The events cannot accept waste from businesses, farms, schools, or non-profit organizations.

You can schedule your appointment here or call MMWA at (989) 781-9555.

MMWA Document Shredding

MMWA hosts two free document shredding events where residents can bring their confidential documents for free, safe, and contact free destruction and recycling. Residents may bring the equivalent of up to four banker’s boxes of paper for shredding. Paper clips (regular size) and staples do not have to be removed. *Cards with batteries are not accepted as they can become a fire hazard. You can schedule your appointment here or call MMWA at (989) 781-9555.

MMWA Holiday Light Recycling Drive

Each year, MMWA holds a holiday light recycling drive from November 15 – January 15. The project kicks off on America Recycles Day – November 15 – just as many people are pulling out their holiday decorations for the season. All sizes, styles, and colors of indoor and outdoor string lights can be donated.

Residents can drop off their lights at multiple locations throughout Saginaw County, plus a Gratiot County drop-off site at the Wheeler Township Office. You can find information on participating locations here.

Proceeds from the Holiday Light Recycling Drive benefit the Can Council.

We are located at 2063 S Miller Rd, Saginaw.
