Propane Tank Recycling Propane TanksMost hardware and grocery stores, as well as some gas
stations, offer propane tank refills or exchanges. Some may also offer tank disposal. Check the Yellow Pages for other locations.

Unless noted, refill and disposal rates are for 20 lb. tanks only. Used one-pound propane gas cylinders (i.e. Coleman propane gas camping cylinder) can be recycled with scrap metal with the help of the Coleman’s Green Keyâ. The Green Keyâ tool is a simple plastic device that, when inserted into an empty propane cylinder, will release any remaining fumes, rendering the cylinder completely empty, depressurized and ready to be recycled.
