Paint

MMWA offers special waste drop off days for items like paint. The program runs from May through September and is free to residents of Saginaw County, Bethany Township, Village of Breckenridge, and Wheeler Township.

Latex and Water Based Paint

Trash: Put this item in your trash.

Instructions:

  • You can dry up the contents by removing the lid and placing the can in a well-ventilated area until dry.
    • This method works best for cans with less than two inches of paint.
  • You can also mix paint with an absorbent, such as shredded paper, cat litter, or any product intended to solidify or clean up oil spills.
  • Allow the contents to completely dry then place your paint can on the curb next to your regular trash with the lid off the paint can (Priority Waste Communities) or in your trash cart (WM communities).
  • If you have multiple cans and live in a Priority Waste Community.
    • You can place them, lid off, in a box that is structurally sound meaning not ripped, torn or wet, and the box and its contents should weigh no more than 35 pounds. Each
box of paint cans will be treated as one bulk item. You can set out up to two boxes of properly prepared paint cans.
    • If you set them out one at a time two cans should be collected each collection day. If
you have multiple cans we recommend that you place them in a box that is structurally sound meaning not ripped, torn or wet, and the box and its contents should weigh no more than 35 pounds. Each box of paint cans will be treated as one bulk item. You can set out up to two boxes of properly prepared paint cans.
