In just about any home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life.

That’s why Mid Michigan Waste Authority is pleased to partner with Lions Club International on the organization’s Recycle for Sight program, which provides glasses for people in need. At all household special waste drop-off events, MMWA will accept used eyeglasses and eyeglass cases that will be donated to the Lions Club Recycle for Sight program, which provides glasses to people in need.

Residents may bring their unwanted eyewear to any of the electronics recycling, paint, hazardous waste, and all-in-one collection events offered by MMWA through September 2018.

Lions Club volunteers collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers (LERCs). LERC volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. Recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in low and middle-income communities where they will have the greatest impact.

Donate glasses and change someone’s life. Imagine if you could help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, or a senior citizen maintain her independence.
