Curbside yard waste collection for 14 MMWA member communities will begin on April 1, 2022.
The program accepts grass clippings, sod without dirt, twigs (less than two inches in diameter), leaves, and other yard vegetation.
Things you should avoid are root balls, soil, stumps, tree trunks, large shrubs, rocks, or bushes.
Use between a 20-35 gallon can with handles, weighing no more than 50 pounds, labeled with a yard waste sticker OR a paper lawn and leaf bag.
**Note the first yard waste pick up dates for 2022:
- Friday, April 1, 2022 (Friday routes)
- Monday, April 4, 2022 (Monday routes)
- Tuesday, April 5, 2022 (Tuesday routes)
- Wednesday, April 6, 2022 (Wednesday routes)
- Thursday, April 7, 2022 (Thursday routes)

The upcoming Presidents’ Day holiday on Monday, February 21, will not cause any delays in trash and recycling services provided to the 34 communities served by the Mid Michigan Waste Authority. Residents should prepare and set out materials on their regularly scheduled collection day.

Waste Management trucks will attempt collection in all communities today, but due to icy roads, some areas may not be safe for trash and recycling drivers to access. Roads/areas found to be impassable when the truck goes by will not have collection service reattempts until the regular collection day next week. Residents who set out materials that are not picked up are asked to remove materials from the curb until their service day next week.

Snow continues to accumulate this morning, which means worsening road conditions in our communities, particularly in the rural areas.
Waste Management trucks will be on the road attempting service today but drivers may encounter areas that are not safe to travel. If that happens, they will be unable to collect your materials until next week. Call us at (989) 781-9555 if you have questions.

Beginning in May, Mid Michigan Waste Authority plans to offer five all in one drop off days for household problem wastes, including paint, electronics, and hazardous waste, as well as two document shredding events. The program will run from May through September and is free to residents of Saginaw County, Bethany Township, Village of Breckenridge, and Wheeler Township. The events cannot accept waste from businesses, farms, schools, or non-profit organizations.

The City of Saginaw’s yard waste collection service has been extended through Friday, December 3, 2021. The City of Frankenmuth’s yard waste collection service has been extended to both Wednesday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 8th.
For MMWA’s other member communities with seasonal yard waste collection service, yard waste collection ended on that community’s last regular pick up day in November.

A friendly reminder to our MMWA member community residents. Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving Day holiday on Thursday, November 25th, if your trash is normally collected on Thursday, you should have your properly prepared materials at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Friday. If your trash is normally collected on Friday, have your properly prepared materials at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on Saturday.
