While most area roads have been plowed, some areas are still a challenge to navigate, especially in rural areas. Waste Management trucks will be on the road attempting service today but drivers may encounter areas that are not safe to travel. If that happens, they will be unable to collect your materials until next week. Questions? Call us at (989) 781-9555.

Weather update for Monday, January 22: Due to the rain over the weekend and the current rainy conditions, Waste Management drivers are encountering dirt roads that are completely ice covered. Trucks are sliding all over the roads, which isn’t safe for anyone! Roads/areas found to be impassable when the truck goes by will not have collection service reattempts until the regular collection day next week. Residents who set out materials that are not picked up are asked to remove materials from the curb until their service day next week.
For more information, call the MMWA office at (989) 781-9555

Extending yard waste season is an individual municipality decision that must be made before the end of November. Residents should watch the MMWA website and Facebook page for the latest information about curbside collection services, including yard waste.
A number of MMWA member communities offer limited-time brush drop-off sites or collection. Residents should contact their community’s municipal office directly to find out if this service is available.
Yard waste stickers are available at municipal offices in participating communities or free through MMWA. To order yard waste stickers or for more information on yard waste guidelines, contact MMWA at (989) 781-9555.

For 2017, Saginaw Township, the City of Saginaw, and Thomas Township have opted to extend their yard waste seasons. In Thomas Township, December 8 will be the last day for yard waste service. In Saginaw Township, the last day of yard waste service for residents with a Monday collection day is December 4. Saginaw Township residents who are serviced on Tuesdays will have a final collection date of December 5. In the City of Saginaw, yard waste collection will run through the week of Dec 4 – Dec 8. The last day of yard waste service will be on the city residents’ regular trash day that week. For more information, please contact MMWA at (989) 781-9555.
Please note that extending yard waste season is an individual municipality decision. At this point, only these communities have opted to extend their yard waste seasons, so yard waste collection for all other communities ends on their last service day in November.

To ensure the safety of trick-or-treaters and area drivers on Halloween, Mid Michigan Waste Authority refuse collection services will begin an hour earlier on Tuesday, October 31.
Waste Management garbage, yard waste, and recycling trucks will hit the streets to start collecting solid waste materials at 6 am on Halloween instead of the normal 7 am start time. To assist with getting refuse collection services completed before trick or treat activities begin, residents in communities serviced on Halloween should place their materials at the curb by 6 am.
The affected communities include:
Fremont Twp
City of Saginaw (residents w/Tuesday service only)
Saginaw Twp (residents w/Tuesday service only)
